Where does the caption go when you schedule a TikTok video?

It goes in the title. A TikTok video has only one text field, and TikTok calls it the title. That title is the text people read under your video. It holds up to 2,200 characters.

Video and photo posts are different

  • Video: one text field, the title. Up to 2,200 characters.
  • Photo post: two fields. A short title, up to 90 characters, and a separate description.
  • So "caption" means something different on each.

How sprkly handles a video

  • Compose asks for a TikTok title and a caption.
  • The title is required for TikTok.
  • When the video posts, sprkly joins the two into TikTok's one field.
  • The title goes first, then a blank line, then your caption.
  • If your caption already starts with the title, sprkly sends the caption alone. Nothing repeats.
  • If the total runs over 2,200, sprkly trims the end of the caption. It never cuts the title.

What to write where

  • Put your hook in the title. It is the first line people read.
  • Put the rest in the caption: context, a question, your hashtags.
  • Keep the whole thing well under 2,200, so nothing at the end gets trimmed.

Also needed on every TikTok post

  • A privacy level, such as public or only you.
  • TikTok checks this on every post, and Compose will not post without it.
  • A photo or a video. TikTok has no text-only posts.

Same video on Reels and Shorts?

  • YouTube also keeps its text in the title, up to 100 characters.
  • Instagram uses a normal caption.
  • Write each one for its place. One caption pasted everywhere reads that way.

Do it in sprkly: In Compose, pick your TikTok account, write your hook in Title and the rest in Caption. sprkly joins them for TikTok.
