Connect Telegram

What you need

• A Telegram channel. Public and private channels both work.
• To be the channel owner, or an admin who can post.
• Any sprkly plan. Telegram works on Free too.
• Each channel counts as one account on your plan.

Connect it

1. Go to Settings and open the Connect tab.
2. Find Social accounts. Next to Telegram, click Connect a Telegram channel.
3. Telegram opens a chat with the sprkly bot. Tap Start.
4. The bot replies "Linked to sprkly as" and your email, partly hidden, like a***@gmail.com. Check that it is yours.
5. Tap Add me to a channel, or add the bot to your channel yourself.
6. Make the bot an admin and turn on Post messages.
7. Come back to sprkly. Your channel shows up in Settings on its own.

The link from step 2 works for 15 minutes. If it runs out, click Connect again.

What you can post

• Text alone, up to 4,096 characters.
• A photo or a video, with up to 1,024 characters of text.
• Up to 10 photos and videos in one post.
• Each photo under 5 MB. Each video under 20 MB.
• Posts show under your channel name. Your subscribers do not see the bot.

Who can connect a channel

• Only the channel owner, or an admin who can post.
• One channel connects to one sprkly account.

To stop

• Remove the bot from your channel. Nothing more posts there.
• sprkly then emails you that the channel needs the bot. If you meant to stop, you can ignore it.
• You can also click Disconnect next to the channel in Settings.

If it fails

The bot tells you what went wrong in the Telegram chat.

• "That link is too old." Click Connect in sprkly again.
• "I need the right to post messages." Turn on Post messages for the bot in the channel admin settings.
• "Only the channel owner, or an admin who can post, can connect it." Ask the owner to add the bot.
• "This channel is already connected to another sprkly account." Disconnect it in that account first.
• "Your sprkly plan has no room for another account." Add an account to your plan. Then remove the bot and add it again.
